Update - 2nd February 2004

Just thought I’d pop by and make a quick update to let you know what I’m up to.

Well my Cabalist is still about but unfortunately my server is in the grip of a fotm obsession when it comes to RvR groups. 99% of the RvR groups have no need for my Cabalist, being largely tank groups. This has frustrated me no end but anyway, enough of my woes :)

For a bit of a change, and to hopefully increase my chances of getting an RvR group, I have recently respecced from my Matter template to Spirit/Body, yup the debuffing nuker spec. Initially I was a little uncertain about the spec but after a few nights I must say I’m very pleased with it indeed. Ok it hasn’t got me a single RvR group as hoped but it has renewed my interest in what is undoubtedly my favourite character :)

This guide will of course remain live for all you budding Matter Cabalists out there but due to my new spec I won’t be in a position to update it with the changes in the upcoming patches and Trails of Atlantis.

I am, however, toying with the idea of creating a Spirit Cabalist guide along similar lines to this one. Please feel free to email me if this is something you would like to see. If there’s enough interest I’ll see what I can do.

So what's this site all about?

Well it's a guide for anyone interested in playing a Cabalist in the game Dark Age Of Camelot, in particular one specced in the Matter skill line.

Who's it written by?

That would be me, my name is Diseased and I'm a level 50 Matter specced Cabalist on the Prydwen server, one of the European servers and currently running version 1.60. I am an active member of Seven guild . . . although I do also enjoy playing a whole host of other characters :P

Does Diseased think he knows it all ?

Hell no, I'm still learning and will likely never stop. This guide is an attempt to help people better understand Matter Cabalists but is by no means a definitive or exhaustive guide. For all I know I’m playing the character completely the wrong way however I’m having allot of fun so I MUST be doing something right.

What is a Cabalist ?

The Cabalist is a spell casting class that combines body destruction spells with a huge great stone pet. The Cabalist is possibly the most under-rated class in the whole game, you'll be lucky to ever see more than a handful on a server at any one time. I’m at a loss to explain this as it is without doubt one of the most fun and versatile classes I’ve ever played.

Note : A cablist is not a power house caster capable of one-shotting enemies. If you're looking for huge figures when it comes to damage try a Fire Wizard instead.

Should I try a Cabalist ?

Absolutely. If you’ve only ever played a Tank class before you will initially be frustrated with any casting class, as I was, however I strongly recommend you stick with it. Once you learn to work within the limitations of being a cloth wearing sissy you’ll have a great time :)

Talk to other Cabalists in the game and see what advice they have for you.
