| So how do I start ?
Well first off you need to create your character.
I chose to play a short Avalonian – short so there’s
less of me to target in RvR and Avalonian to take advantage of the
higher base Intelligence. With DOT damage being influenced by INT
I decided that the extra INT would be important. I distributed my
30 stat points as follows : +10 Intelligence, +10 Dexterity, +5
Constitution and +5 Strength.
Don't Avalonians get targetted first in RvR ?
Allot has been said about playing as an Avalonian casting class,
with many people advising to choose a Britton, despite the lower
base Intelligence, stating that when you reach level 50 initial
stats aren’t really that important. The reason for this is
the assumption that other realms usually target Avalonians first
in RvR as they are by far the most common casting class.
To be perfectly honest the more I play the more I have to agree
that Avalonians are at a distinct dissadvantage in RvR and will
get targetted first based on race.
Are you pleased with your choice overall then
?
If there was one change I could make to my character it would be
his race, I would definitely go with a short Britton. One of my
other characters is a lvl50 Britton Theurgist and he surives far
longer than Avalonian casters he groups with and is often the last
caster standing.
Has Shrouded Isles changed things?
Mythic introduced a new race to Albion in Shrouded Isles, the Inconnu.
This race starts with 5 more strength, 15 more constitution and
10 more dexterity than an Avalonian whilst losing 10 Intelligence.
The Inconnu are also the smallest targets in RvR that Albion has
to offer. That said their unique look does clearly single them out
as casters so I would still prefer to be a Britton.
